Why it belongs

Green that lives with you

Houseplants turn a room into a place you want to be. They soften hard edges, clean the air, and give you something alive to care for all year. Some ask for almost nothing. Snake plants and ZZ plants shrug off neglect. Pothos and philodendron trail from any shelf. Ferns and calatheas reward a little attention with beautiful foliage. Match the plant to your light. A south or west window is bright. North is low. Most plants tell you what they need on the tag. When in doubt, ask us.

Make it thrive

Simple care that works

Most houseplants die from kindness. Water only when the top inch of soil is dry, then water until it runs from the bottom. Empty the saucer. Bright indirect light suits most plants. Keep them away from heating vents and cold drafts. Feed every month during active growth, and not at all in winter. Repot when roots circle the pot or water runs straight through. Choose a pot one size larger with a drainage hole. Dust the leaves now and then. They breathe better and look better.
